Nonmailable medium and materials curated by USPS, printed copy of "Publication 52 - Hazardous, Restricted, and Perishable Mail" and shipping crate, 2022
In the project Nonmailable medium and materials curated by USPS, a printed copy of "Publication 52 -Hazardous, Restricted, and Perishable Mail" shipped in an art crate describes items allowed to be mailed domestically through USPS, a commonly chosen mail delivery service by artists to ship artworks for its affordability. It addresses self-censorship, systems of protection, and language of description when the materiality is prioritized. With institutional shipping assistance for the exhibition Delivery Systems, a shipping Fedex label was used on the crate as opposed to the outlined USPS conditions. It highlights the politics of class in the fine arts.
